The Case of Tammy Haas
What happened to Tammy Haas?
It's been a day but I wanted to get back to writing a post. I didn't know what to write so I sat here and thought about cases that could receive more attention besides just locally. This is a case that deserves more coverage everywhere because Tammy Haas deserves the justice that she never had gotten. Strap in for a little wild ride as we investigate the case of Tammy Haas.
Before continuing though, this article has no intention to create a fame on the suspect nor has the intention to create a mass talk about this family nor their daughter. This is an investigation based on evidence given prior to the trial and what is known today.
The girl who had a future
I personally didn't know Haas but the way that people still care for her shows that all of her life, Tammy had a great personality. She was athletic and cheerful. Even wanted to celebrate her future after high school. In school, she was outgoing and had the personality of a person who focused on what she wanted to achieve.
September of 1992
The leaves were starting to fall as autumn approached the small town of Yankton, South Dakota. Haas was still happy in her life and even had the ideal relationship that she had wanted. Yet despite everything being so happy at the moment, things were about to go awry. Haas, her boyfriend Eric, and several other people went to a small farm area in Nebraska. It wasn't to far from Yankton and in fact, it wasn't that far from Gavin's Point Dam. Despite countless witnesses, the events of September 17th is still uncertain. Some people say that Haas may have wanted to leave and her boyfriend wouldn't allow her to. Others say an argument happened for numerous reasons. Though despite the countless theories, that night Haas seemed to disappear.
A golfer that had been golfing not that far from Yankton or even the South Dakota border had discovered Haas' body in a ravine less than two miles from where the party happened.
The Investigation
The injuries that Tammy had made it seem that whatever had happened, it wasn't an accident. She had a broken neck and several other injuries that pointed towards that she had been killed. Shortly after getting the details of the party and the last person that could have seen her alive, the main suspect was her boyfriend.
Countless hours Eric had been questioned. According to what is known about the investigation, he had denied everything. He denied murdering her to drinking to even the strands of hair from Tammy found in his car. Yet the countless hours of denying, he was still charged with manslaughter in Cedar County.
The trial of Eric Stukel
Keep in mind that there is also a pre-trial, which in this case, there is.
Since Stukel didn't confess nor no direct evidence despite the hair, no witness could say that her former boyfriend had murdered Haas. Witnesses also have stated that their was an argument that night yet as stated, nobody could say it was him that murdered her.
The only evidence that could link him to her was the party and the hair. This was the only evidence that they had. This led to Stukel pleading non-guilty. As the news broke, not only people in Yankton or surrounding areas were not happy, neither was the Haas family. This formed a buzz in the news and in communities. They realized that their daughter needed justice. As a result, a Facebook page had been created, Justice for Tammy Haas.
Today the page is still going as her family and communities still search for answers. No matter what the verdict was, Tammy Haas, the young and bright woman, still is spoken and what is important is that as long as she is being spoken about and people still want justice, the search for justice still continues.
This article may seem like a breeze to write but honestly, this is just the beginning. This isn't the only article that I'll write about Tammy Haas because aside from Eric, maybe just maybe, there is something else that is in front of our eyes that we can't see yet. The next article will be about the more lengthy stuff that we haven't discussed in this article.
Before I conclude part one of Tammy Haas, please share this and encourage others to do so as well. Share this to crime pages or to your family and friends. Until then, stay tuned for part 2 within the upcoming weeks.
