The justice for Tammy Haas continues

 Justice for Tammy Haas

Regardless of what you may have thought about the verdict or the views of Eric Stukel, the thing that remains important is the hunger for the justice that Tammy Haas deserves never stops. It never becomes a one time hit or a search that grows useless. This forever going hunt is the thing that will bring justice. This is why I write. This is why the community continues to search endlessly.

If you remember from the last article, I had only written and discussed what was reported. I also did mention that there is a Facebook page. Justice for Tammy Haas was created in 2014 not just to bring light or topic to Tammy Haas but in hopes to bring some sort of justice to solve this unsolved case. This article we will look into the page and the evidence that is presented through newspaper clippings and presented by the people that have posted on it.

The first thing we need to discuss is the events of September 17th-September 18th. Aside from knowing there was a party that both Eric and Tammy attended, there is things that happened before, during and after. A post made on April 21st, 2018, it lists off a timeline that starts with dinner at Pizza Hut. Around 6:35 pm, both had left pizza hut. Shortly after leaving, they went to Stukel's house to watch television until 7:30 pm before attending to homecoming coronation festivals until 9 pm. After leaving from the coronation, they both went to a party at the Stephenson Farm just within a few miles from Gavin's Point Dam. Keep in mind that they had purchased alcohol from a local convienient store that still stands next to the bridge.

To summarize, it appeared that their night was normal, fun and adventerous. There was nothing to question about these two people nor anything in question to the events prior. This is where the events become questioning and blurry, or in better terms out-of-line. These events are retold by Eric.

Around 10:45 pm, they left the party and the farm. Within fifteen minutes, he also claimed that they returned home after stopping for more beer at another gas station on Broadway Ave. Then the night went still as planned  between the both of them.

When witnesses at the party were being investigated, they said that both Tammy and her former boyfriend never left the party but still had been there at 11:15. The witnesses also had recalled Eric's car was still at the farmhouse until midnight or so. At midnight, an argument broke out between a male and a female near the farm, as witnesses could hear it. It was reported that this altercation occurred at Gavin's Point Dam. Yet a conflicting report from a worker at the gas station next to the Meridian Bridge claims between twelve-thirty and one in the morning, Tammy had walked into her workplace and leaving alone on foot. Another conflicting report says none of those events happen because Sarah Stukel had seen Tammy at the house, coming from their bathroom, wanting to leave or at least ready to leave. Eric recalls that Tammy was trying to beat the one am curfew and was already walking home.

None the less, she was either at the party or not. Something happened to Tammy Haas whether or not she was at the farmhouse or at the Stukel's. We need to know what happened after it. We need to know what evidence can we still get from it. In a different article, we can discuss this but we need to look at when the body was found and the events that made it to the papers.

The earliest clipping that is posted on her page is when the search began for 19 year old, Tammy Haas. She was reported missing to the Yankton Police Department and was reported by her family and friends. At the time, the police department had no indication of foul play. She was reported a missing for a few days and on September 23rd, 1992, she was found.

According to a different article from the Press and Dakotan, she was found in the early morning yet they couldn't be certain that it was Tammy. According to Dave Winckler of the Nebraska State Patrol, her body was found in a ravine south of a gold course not that far from the farm nor the dam. Trauma-type injuries were discovered on various parts of the body and couldn't determine if a weapon was used. Winckler also mentioned that no signs of sexual abuse were found due to the lack of clues.

The investigation had started. She was reported missing Friday evening and then found at 8 am Monday morning by a person looking for golf balls. It appeared that she was not bounded but was killed elsewhere then brought to the area. According to Winckler, he couldn't state that she was clothed but said that her clothes and identification was found at least next to the body.

With little leads or even any suspects, they had to turn towards witness as well and everything pointed towards Eric.

As stated above, the events after the party went in all directions from party goers to the Stuckel's and for this, we don't really know. We can kinda place a better estimate with time and say at least that between twelve-thirty and after one there was an argument, they got beer then went to his house. We can also say that between the same time, they stayed at the party, something happened, he left with her body, dumped her on the way back to Yankton, grabbed the beer, then went home. We can also say that the witness really didn't see her walk in alone during the time because that would have taken a very long time to get from Nebraska and back to Yankton (it had taken me 2 hrs and 18 minutes from when I walked from downtown Yankton to the top of the dam). Yet this is all what we are trying to get to- the answer- but we can't get to it despite feeling it.

Obviously this article didn't cover everything on the page but I didn't want to give everything in one article because we still are searching for her justice. In the next couple of articles, we will continue diving into the page and other things that gives us a pull towards the Justice for Tammy Haas.
