The Nun that murdered because of love

 Marianna de Leyva y Marino

What you are about to read will sound like a Shakespeare script where everything seems all and mighty between two lovers until tragedy strikes. This true crime story is nonetheless because of art and life will always mimic each other and this is not just the true story of love yet of the true tragedy that happened after.

In the year of 1557, Marianna de Leyva y Marino, came into existence. Growing up, her family was wealthy because they made tons of money from banking. After her mother passed, her father left her and had her aunt raise her eventually forgetting about her due to his job. Yet, when she was 13, her father came back and forced her into a covenant.

This covenant did lead her into becoming Sister Virginia. In the nunnery, she was adored by younger people until things changed in her twenties. Gian Paolo Osio, a young man that absolutely charmed women, caught her eye. Unfortunately, she fell out of her practices and the following of God to pursue love. This lead to the events that gradually led to her murdering. Since Osio was skilled in blacksmith, he would create the keys, including the one that led to her room. Their love bond could not only be broken but it was covered up by other young nuns and even a priest. Sometime down their relationship, she became pregnant twice. The first baby was a stillborn but the other lived.

Sin covered her senses and lust made her once holy heart sinful. In 1606, a nun threatened that her secrets and affair would be told. Before she could speak to anyone, Osio murdered the nun.  With the help of Marianna, the other nuns had to fear that if they did the same thing, they would be murdered as well.

In order to do their best from the dark secrets of the murder and affair, Osio murdered again and again in hope that no more rumors could hear the day of light. Yet, the word had reached the Governor of Milan. The investigation had started and things were not looking good for the nun and her lover. In 1607, Osio, Marianna, and anyone else who either knew or helped, had been arrested and tortured. Osio did escape yet after being found was sentenced to death but was betrayed and murdered by his acquaintance. Marianna was sentenced to solitary confinement until fourteen years later, she was released so that she could spend the remaining days of the covenant.
